Preliminary Hospital Charges (the bill)

We received a copy in the mail today of the claim that was sent to our insurance company from our hospital.

Who wants to take a stab at the outrageous cost?

7 weeks of around the clock nurse/doctor care, daily prescriptions, weekly ultrasounds, 3 meals and 2 snacks a day, linen service, daily monitoring of myself and baby, cable, wireless Internet, etc.....

Go to comment section and cast your prediction.

I'm going to guess around $600,000. When Grant was in the NICU the cost of his care was around $10,000 per day.

49 days of care x $10,000 = $490,000

Of course, my daily figure was from 6 years ago, so I added another $100,000.

How close am I??

$150-175K. One week for me was $22K back in 2000.

Just a random number based on other guesses and where my fingers landed on the keyboard numbers!

Good luck to me!

$300K

Any of these numbers are just terrifying, eh?

(I was hoping to come here tonight and read about a baby... but I guess no baby is good...)

Labor and non-delivery of Jack plus surgical intervention plus recovery period equaled over $21,000 in 2002 (I never even saw a bill for the twins). So I'm going to go on the low-side, as surgery and anesthesia weren't included on your menu, and guess $77,000. -Tiff
